About Justin Purtill Trio:

Bio of the group could be – “The the music of the Justin Purtill Trio could certainly be called global Jazz, in that it’s respective members have toured and performed with the likes of Lauren Hill, Hassan Hakmoun, Residente, and Wayne Shorter. The group will navigate Justin’s originals and arrangements coming from many different musical backgrounds, including improvisation, the avant-garde, jazz, and folkloric forms from around the world.”

About Justin Purtill:

Justin Purtill is a drummer, composer, and singer-songwriter whose work spans jazz, rock, and global music traditions. He has performed and recorded with Esperanza Spalding, Amy Winehouse, Residente, Hassan Hakmoun, Gary Burton, George Garzone, and Thomas Pridgen, among many others.

As a member of Residente’s band from 2017 to 2025, he headlined festivals across the US, Europe, and Latin America, including the 2017 Latin Grammys, Austin City Limits, Radio City Music Hall, and two performances at the Zocalo in Mexico City for over 200,000 people. In 2021 he co-composed the soundtrack for the Emmy Award-winning HBO documentary Life of Crime, 1984–2020.

He has released eleven albums of improvisational singer-songwriter music, most recently on 577 Records.
