About Maria Raquel:
The bilingual singer and songwriter was born in Medellin, Colombia where she lived until 2016 when she moved to New York where she currently resides. She comes from a very musical family; her mother studied piano and always encouraged her love for music. In her extended family she has several amateur musicians: accordion players, guitarists, pianists, bassists and more.
“For as long as I can remember music has been part of my life. In my earliest memories I am always listening to music, dancing and singing all kinds of genres. From the time I learned to write I would sit and listen to music and transcribe the lyrics to learn and sing them from beginning to end. I would also compose, in my childish language, songs that I would put to music in my head.” ~Maria Raquel
