Peeping Tom (with J. Hoberman)

Location: Redstone Theater
Dir. Michael Powell. 1960, 101 mins. 4K DCP. With Karlheinz Böhm, Anna Massey, Moira Shearer. J. Hoberman writes,” A great film maudit can derail or even terminate a career. Michael Powell never recovered from the scandal of Peeping Tom.” Initially reviled, but now considered a classic study of cinematic voyeurism, Powell’s 1960 masterpiece concerns a young photographer obsessed with killing women and filming their final contorted expressions. Martin Scorsese has described it is a film that “says everything that can be said about filmmaking, [and] the process of dealing with film.”
