A vibrant night of jazz fusion rooted in Uruguayan Candombe and Río de la Plata rhythms, featuring original music and bold reimaginings by pianist Martin “Sheffa” Giorgieff, bassist Nacho Mateu, and drummer Juan Chiavassa, followed by an open Candombe jam session.

Their repertoire features mostly original compositions alongside unique arrangements of classic Uruguayan and South American folk songs, offering an unforgettable musical journey.”

About Martin Giorgieff:

Martin is an Uruguayan artist that proposes a collaborative style of music where melodies are made into songs. With jazz and classical influences, his compositions are build of journeys and expression of feelings. He has the intent to discover and travel with the Uruguayan rhythm of Candombe its different transformations and influences. Instrumental songwriting with some jazz elements create a unique style that tries to connect in a deeper level with its listeners.

About Nacho Mateu:

Nacho is a Bassist, composer, producer and music teacher born in Montevideo, Uruguay. As a session player he has played and recorded with Ruben Rada, Hugo and Osvaldo Fattoruso, MartIn Buscaglia, Julieta Rada, Laura Canoura, David Lebon, Fito Páez, Pablo Milanés and Leon Gieco among others. In 2008 he released his first solo album called “Lord”. Then followed “Santos Domingos” in 2010, “Peste Guru” in 2013, “Bajo Candombe” in 2015, “MoM” (Mateu – Olariaga – Miodownik) in 2018, “Se renueva” with Camila Ferrari in 2023 and “Holograma” in 2025. These albums won multiple awards and his book ‘Los Bajos del Candombe” was declared of interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

About Juan Chiavassa:

Juan is a drummer and producer from Argentina, based in NYC. He Graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2017. Juan has worked with artists such as Mike Stern (current drummer of Mike Stern Band), Paquito D’Rivera, Esperanza Spalding, Omar Rodriguez Lopez, George Garzone, Russell Malone, John Patitucci David Kikoski, Leo Genovese, Benito Gonzalez, Jeremy Pelt, Eric Alexander, Leni Stern, Pedrito Martinez, Dayramir Gonzalez, House of Waters, Ra Kalam Bob Moses, Pablo Ziegler, Ruben Rada, Julieta Rada, Ricardo Nole, Javier Malosetti, Gonzalo Aloras among many others, and performed at The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon multi-Grammy winning artist Residente and Bad Bunny.
