You’re invited: Screening of Bhupen Da Uncut and Conversation

Please join us for a special on-campus screening of Bhupen Da Uncut, a documentary on the life and legacy of legendary artist Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, followed by a conversation with the film’s director.

Program

  • Welcome and Introduction
    Introduced by S. Mitra Kalita, veteran journalist, Rutgers alumna, and longtime friend of Bhupen Hazarika
  • Screening: Bhupen Da Uncut* (60 minutes)
  • Post-screening Conversation
    A discussion with:
  • Bobeeta Sharma, filmmaker, actor, author, and managing partner of Anuradha Cineplex, and former chairperson of the Assam State Film Finance and Development Corporation, whose work spans film, television, and documentaries on Assamese culture and social issues. She also created the popular travelogue series, “Bidexot Apun Manuh” on the Assamese diaspora.
  • Meheli Sen, Associate Professor and Director of the Cinema Studies program at Rutgers University, a scholar of post-independence Indian cinema with a focus on Hindi and Bengali films, genre, gender, and popular media cultures.

The conversation will explore Bhupen Hazarika’s artistic and political legacy, the making of Bhupen Da Uncut, and the continuing relevance of his work to contemporary media, culture, and social movements.

This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome. Donations are welcome and can be made to Assam Digital Living Museum via QR code.
