Hey neighbor! If you show up early on Sunday and no one else is there, check your clock. Daylight saving time begins March 8, so we spring forward one hour. The same day is International Women’s Day. Strong women, extra sunlight. We love to see it… Technically it is actually International Women’s Month. And honestly, appreciation should not be limited to one day or one month. This neighborhood runs on strong women. Shop owners. Organizers. Moms juggling everything. The woman at the bakery who remembers your order before you say it. You know who I mean! Also, Holi celebrations begin tomorrow, the Hindu festival of colors that marks the arrival of spring. If you see bright pink and yellow powder in the air this week, that is joy, not construction dust 😉 One more cool neighborhood moment: Voices of Jackson Heights was just nominated for the NYC Podcast Awards. Pretty wild. It’s been such a privilege getting to share the stories of the people who make this place what it is – and seeing it recognized beyond our little corner of Queens feels special.
And last week, our last Dinner Club was packed in the best way. Here’s how it works: we match you with five other neighbors (six per table) at one of our favorite local restaurants. You share a meal, swap stories, realize you live three blocks apart… then everyone heads to a nearby bar after to keep the conversations going. It’s low pressure, high connection, and honestly one of our favorite nights of the month.
The next one is Wednesday March 25. If you want in, claim your seat now at dinnerclub.jacksonheightsinsider.com before the table fills. And now, let’s get into what is happening around the neighborhood this week.
