🥟 Sep 30 – Oct 6: Cumbia, crafts, free goodies on 34th in Jackson Heights

Hey neighbor!

My friend Tony Bacigalupo once wrote about the best gathering spots in his town of Norwalk, and it got me thinking about what that looks like here in Jackson Heights.

Apart from the obvious ones like Espresso 77, The Queensboro, Travers Park, Jax Inn Diner, EJ’s barbershop and Nancy Blakes, here are some of my personal favorites:

There’s World Borough Bookshop where owner Adrian (AKA Bookpapi on TikTok) hosts author talks, art events, and meetups that often come alive on Open Streets.. Or Monika Nails & More, where the everyone is so chatty and up for a laugh. Then there’s the Lebanese restaurant El Toum, where owner/chef/server Sammi makes everyone feel special and part of the family. And Art Retail Therapy Shop, where browsing with Carlos feels like a creative adventure…

So which is your favorite? Reply and let me know!

And while you think about that, here’s what’s coming up this week….
