DESCRIPTION:The Alex Owen Quartet\, led by Jackson Heights resident Alex Owen on cornet and vocals\, specializes in Great American Songbook standards\, swing\, and classic jazz. This dynamic group brings the lively spirit of New Orleans to every performance. Alex Owen\, with deep roots in New Orleans jazz\, brings together top New York jazz musicians: Garrett Manley on guitar\, Scott Ritchie on bass\, and Kevin Dorn on drums. Their performances capture the essence of a New Orleans jazz party\, blending traditional swing with a modern twist. \nThis project is supported by funds from the New York State Council on the Arta\, Statewide Community Regrants Program (formerly the Decentralization Program) with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the Now York State Legislature\, and administered by Flushing Town Hall. \n“This event is made possible (in part) with public funds from the Queens Arts Fund\, a re-grant program supported by New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by Now York Foundation for the Arts.” \n“Additional funding from NYC Councilman Shekar Krishnan\, and our JHBG members.”
