Conceived as a space of encounter\, the work activates ancestral memory through the convergence of voice\, rhythm\, and embodied sound. Afro-Peruvian spoken word enters into dialogue with Afro-Mexican and Indigenous musical forms\, generating a layered\, transnational soundscape where diasporic identities are negotiated and reimagined in real time. \nAbout Mónica Carrillo Zegarra: \nMónica Carrillo Zegarra is an Afro-Peruvian poet\, composer\, and cultural practitioner whose work engages the politics of memory\, race\, and representation. Author of Unicroma\, her practice operates across literary\, musical\, and performative registers\, situating Afro-descendant narratives within both academic and community-based contexts. Her collaborations with internationally recognized artists expand her work into global circuits\, while maintaining a critical focus on Afro-Latin American epistemologies. \nAbout Juan Carlos Marín: \nJuan Carlos Marín is a musician and cultural organizer whose work centers on the transmission and reinterpretation of Son Jarocho as a diasporic practice. As leader of Los Guachinangos\, he facilitates transnational collaborations that foreground collective music-making as a site of cultural continuity and exchange. His practice situates traditional forms within contemporary migratory contexts\, emphasizing the role of music as a living archive. \nAbout Eric Kurimski: \nEric Kurimski is a leading voice in contemporary Afro-Peruvian guitar\, known for his distinctive fusion of jazz and Afro-Peruvian traditions. A seasoned performer on major stages including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center\, he has collaborated with iconic artists such as Eva Ayllón and developed a sound that bridges cultures with virtuosity and depth. \nAbout Georgina Saldaña: \nGeorgina Saldaña is a vocalist\, composer\, and cultural producer whose work navigates the intersections of popular and traditional music from Oaxaca and the broader Latin American context. As co-founder of La China Sonidera\, she contributes to the evolution of cumbia as a translocal genre\, while her training in classical voice informs a versatile and interdisciplinary practice. Her work foregrounds voice as a site of cultural memory and transformation.
