Since 1986\, he has been a founding member and co-leader of Trio da Paz\, a band he started with bassist Nilson Matta and guitarist Romero Lubambo. In New York\, Duduka followed his dream of playing with American jazz musicians where he could blend musical cultures. In 2002 his first solo album\, Samba Jazz Fantasia\, was nominated for an American Grammy Award. In 2002 he formed the Duduka Da Fonseca Quintet featuring Anat Cohen\, Guilherme Monteiro\, Helio Alves\, and Leonardo Cioglia. The Quintet recorded two critically acclaimed albums. Their second album\, Samba Jazz-Jazz Samba\, was among the ten best albums of the year in Jazziz Magazine. \nSince 2007\, Duduka Da Fonseca has had a project with pianist Helio Alves\, featuring vocalist Maucha Adnet\, called “Samba Jazz & The Music of Jobim”. This show has been presented annually at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola (JALC)\, as well as other venues and festivals around the globe. In 2009 Duduka formed the Duduka Da Fonseca Trio featuring David Feldman on piano and Guto Wirtti on acoustic bass. The Trio has recorded four albums that were acclaimed by critics worldwide. \nIn 2020 Duduka was nominated for the American Grammy® Award with the album “Sorte!”: Music by John Finbury\, Thalma de Freitas with Victor Gonçalves\, John Patitucci\, Chico Pinheiro\, Airto Moreira\, Rogério Boccato & Duduka Da Fonseca. \n \nAbout Vinicius Gomes: \nGuitarist\, guitarist and composer\, releasing in 2017 his first album entirely authorial\, “Resilience”\, dedicated to merge the Brazilian universe to modern jazz. \nHe has performed with important composers and performers\, such as Zizi Possi (with whom he acts as guitarist and arranger in the show “À Flor da Pele”)\, Rosa Passos\, Jane Duboc\, Arthur Verocai and Oswaldinho do Acordeon\, as well as names of instrumental music such as Toninho Ferragutti (with whom he recorded the album “A Gata Café”\, winner of the Brazilian Music Award 2017)\, Thiago Espirito Santo\, Robertinho Silva and Mestrinho. He has also worked with orchestras such as OSESP and Jazz Sinfônica de SP. \nHe has a master’s degree from ECA/USP\, where he wrote the work “Helio Delmiro – Compositions for Guitar Solo”\, winner of PROAC 2015 in the instrumental music category. \nHe has been participating in various Brazilian instrumental music authorial works with musicians such as Daniel de Paula\, Guilherme Ribeiro\, Rafael Abdalla and Alexandre Silverio\, besides being one of the leaders of the group KVAR. \nHe has performed in festivals such as: Festival Internacional de Jazz de Buenos Aires (ARG)\, Festival de Jazz do Capão (Chapada Diamantina – BA)\, Jazz a La Calle (Mercedes – Uruguay)\, Bourbon Street Festival (Paraty – RJ)\, FIMUPA (Belém – PA) Festival de Jazz de La Plata (ARG)\, Festival de Garanhuns (PE)\, SESC Jazz & Blues (SP). He has also performed in Finland\, Sweden and Colombia. \n \nAbout Gili Lopes: \nGili Lopes is a Brazilian bassist\, composer\, and musical director based in New York\, recognized as one of the most singular voices in contemporary jazz with Latin American roots. \nBorn in 1983 in Porto Alegre\, Brazil\, he began teaching himself bass at age 14. He trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London\, then at the Jazz Institute Berlin\, where he earned a master’s degree in composition and arranging. \nHe has performed in more than 35 countries\, on stages including Ronnie Scott’s\, Jazz at Lincoln Center\, and the Seoul Jazz Festival\, sharing the stage with artists like Paquito D’Rivera\, Toninho Horta\, and Marcos Valle. \nIn 2024 he released Algures\, his debut as a bandleader\, recorded with John Ellis and Ari Hoenig\, named one of the best jazz albums of the year by Downbeat. He remains active in New York and tours internationally with his quartet.
