SUMMARY:Pasatono Trio | Traditional Music of the Mixteca\, Oaxaca
DESCRIPTION:Rooted in the musical traditions of the Mixteca\, Pasatono honors the living and the departed through violin\, bajo quinto\, jarana\, and voice—a celebration of memory\, community\, and renewal. \n7:00 pm to 8:00 (First Set) \n9:00 pm to 10:00 (Second Set) \nAdmission: $20 Cover Charge for Mezzanine \nFeaturing: \n\n\nPatricia García – Violin \n\n\nEdgar Serralde  – Jarana\, Vocals \n\n\nRubén Luengas – Bajo Quinto\, Vocals \n\n\nAbout Pasatono Trio: \nPasatono has dedicated its work to researching\, performing\, composing\, and promoting the musical traditions of the Mixtec culture. Through many years of exploration across Guerrero\, Puebla\, Oaxaca\, and the transnational Mixtec community\, the ensemble has learned directly from “living treasures”—luthiers\, bass players\, violinists\, composers\, and tradition bearers whose knowledge has preserved and shaped this rich musical heritage. \nPasatono is Rubén Luengas (bajo quinto and voice)\, Patricia García (violin)\, and Edgar Serralde (jarana and voice). \nPasatono’s musical journey has taken the sounds of the violin\, bajo quinto\, and jarana from Mixtec communities to major cultural institutions and stages throughout the United States and Mexico. The ensemble has performed at Lincoln Center in New York\, the Kennedy Center in Washington\, D.C.\, the Getty Museum in Los Angeles\, the Bard Music Festival\, the Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston\, El Museo del Barrio in New York\, Terraza 7 in Queens\, Barbès in Brooklyn\, the Smithsonian American Art Museum\, the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian\, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival\, Stanford University\, the University of Oregon\, and\, most recently\, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival\, among many others. \nYet Pasatono’s music remains deeply rooted in the communities from which it comes—from Mexico City and the plazas of Oaxaca to fandangos in places such as El Jicaral\, Coicoyán de las Flores\, and Yucuquimi de Ocampo. \nPasatono resists leaving behind the sounds with which their grandparents forged their communities: the music of fandangos and celebrations\, the instruments that accompanied their dead\, and the songs with which they grew up. As contemporary Mixtecos\, they remain guided by a simple conviction: their origin is their destiny.

SUMMARY:Pahua Live In Concert
DESCRIPTION:Standing Room General Admission: $25 | $20 Members \nBalcony Seats: $30 | $25 Members \nBox Seats: $35 | $30 Members \nWe are going to dance the night away! The only seating for this concert will be in FTH’s boxes and balcony. Please purchase tickets accordingly. \n“Pahua finds the perfect balance between Latin Rhythm and electronic music as she navigates a vibrant sonic landscape.” —Color and Sound  \nThis will be an incredible evening of global bass and Latin fusion! Pahua (’/pa-wah/) is a singer\, composer\, percussionist\, DJ\, and producer from Mexico City who mixes Caribbean and folkloric beats with electronics and percussion\, creating a border-busting dance-party soundtrack rooted in ancient rhythms and melodies. From Brazilian funk and dancehall to South American folkloric music\, cumbia\, and global bass\, Pahua’s music will keep you on your feet all night long! \nWith a nuanced approach to Folktronica\, this co-founder of the neocumbia experimental Sotomayor Music project delves into tribal Latin rhythms\, texturing them with airy house music\, while her arrangements—packed with great vibes—reveal cumbia\, Afrobeat\, kuduro\, dembow\, and dancehall influences. Her voice floats amidst these finely tuned sounds\, sometimes as an airy whisper and at other times as a front-and-center singer that invites you into her deceptively complex aural world. \nJoin us before the concert for a pre-show artist talk at 6:30 PM. Show starts at 7:30 PM. Stick around to dance the night away on our theater dance floor! Mexican eats will also be available for sale. \nAbout the Artist  \nPahua (’/pa-wah/) is a singer\, composer\, percussionist\, DJ\, and producer from Mexico City who mixes Caribbean and folkloric beats with electronics and percussion.
