\nZUHAITZ GURRUTXAGA (1980)\, former professional soccer player\, was a European Under-16 Champion and won a bronze medal at the Under-17 World Cup with the Spanish national team.\nYears later\, he finished as a SUBCHAMPION in the First Division with Real Sociedad\, all while silently waging a battle against anxiety\, depression\, and a severe OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE DISORDER (OCD). \nSince hanging up his boots\, he has taken to the stage to lay bare the inner workings of professional football and to share—without filters—his own battles\, his sporting and sexual mishaps\, his varied and outlandish failures\, and his MENTAL HEALTH struggles\, in monologues that are as hilarious as they are brave. \nFor the first time in New York\, “SUBCAMPEÓN” (SUBCHAMPION) is a side-splitting\, raw\, and honest autobiography that navigates the space between comedy and anguish. We begin with a 30-minute training session for volunteers who have not done this work before. \nThis action is rooted in principles of cooperation\, empathy\, and collective action. Effective community care involves building networks of mutual support and empowering ourselves (community members!!) to meet our collective needs.
