Raised in Mérida\, a culturally rich city in the Venezuelan Andes\, Vielma began his musical journey through folk traditions\, Caribbean percussion\, and classical training in Venezuela’s renowned system of youth orchestras. \nA graduate of Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory\, Fran has performed and recorded with artists such as Miguel Zenón\, John Medeski\, Antonio Sánchez\, Randy Brecker\, and Luis Enrique. We begin with a 30-minute training session for volunteers who have not done this work before. \nThis action is rooted in principles of cooperation\, empathy\, and collective action. Effective community care involves building networks of mutual support and empowering ourselves (community members!!) to meet our collective needs.
