The project aims to seamlessly blend two genres of music – Cuban timba\, the cuban dance music of Elito Reve\, Alex Abreu\, Los Van Van\, and others\, and American jazz\, which Eric grew up with in Brooklyn – the music of Thelonious Monk\, Charlie Parker\, Bud Powell\, and the great American Songbook. By incorporating jazz improvisation and harmonic innovation into the format of a standard cuban timba band\, never losing danceability or rhythmic sensibility\, the project blends both timba and jazz into one music\, honoring both traditions while moving the music forward\, together. \nAbout Eric Stern: \nEric Stern is a pianist and composer based in New York City.
