SUMMARY:Eric Stern’s Cuban Jazz Project
DESCRIPTION:A vibrant fusion of Cuban timba and American jazz\, this trio blends infectious dance rhythms with bold improvisation and harmonic depth\, creating a fresh sound that honors both traditions while pushing them forward. \n7:30 pm to 8:30(First Set) \n9:30 pm to 10:30(Second Set) \nAdmission: $20 Cover Charge for Mezzanine \nFeaturing: \n\n\nEric Stern – Piano \n\n\nGeorge Greenhill  – Drums \n\n\nJohn Benitez – Bass \n\n\nAbout: Eric Stern’s Cuban Jazz Project: \nIt is a new trio. The project aims to seamlessly blend two genres of music – Cuban timba\, the cuban dance music of Elito Reve\, Alex Abreu\, Los Van Van\, and others\, and American jazz\, which Eric grew up with in Brooklyn – the music of Thelonious Monk\, Charlie Parker\, Bud Powell\, and the great American Songbook. By incorporating jazz improvisation and harmonic innovation into the format of a standard cuban timba band\, never losing danceability or rhythmic sensibility\, the project blends both timba and jazz into one music\, honoring both traditions while moving the music forward\, together. \nAbout Eric Stern: \nEric Stern is a pianist and composer based in New York City. Eric plays a variety of genres of music\, including latin jazz with John Benitez\, salsa with Carabali\, modern jazz with Noah Myers’ Sonder\, hip-hop with Good Lives Crew\, and straight-ahead jazz with a myriad of young artists. Eric’s ability to blend these influences seamlessly into any performance\, while staying authentic to each genre\, has allowed Eric to quickly establish himself as a rising star in the NYC music scene.

SUMMARY:Getting in the Room\, Being in the Room\, Staying in the Room
DESCRIPTION:FTH is pleased to present a professional development workshop with Queens World Film Festival’s Executive Director\, Katha Cato. Open to artists of all disciplines and experience\, this workshop will allow us to think about how we show up as artists\, how we find our way into spaces\, how we navigate them once we are there\, and how we stay connected long after the moment has passed. \nBuilt around three deceptively simple ideas—getting in the room\, being in the room\, and staying in the room—this fast-paced\, practical workshop explores how to find and create opportunities to share your work\, how to show up as a strong collaborator\, and how to build relationships that extend well beyond a single introduction. Participants will begin with a brief self-assessment to identify the skills and resources they already have\, and then we will work on expanding them.

SUMMARY:Sebastián Cruz Quartet | New Colombian Songwriting
DESCRIPTION:Sebastian Cruz\, a trailblazer in new Colombian music\, blends traditional rhythms with rock and jazz elements. His latest project\, the Sebastian Cruz Quartet\, showcases this fusion with their debut “El Prisma\,” exemplifying his innovative and eclectic musical style. \n7:30PM to 8:30PM (First Set) \n9:30PM to 10:30PM (Second Set) \nAdmission: $20: Cover charge Mezzanine. \nFeaturing: \n\n\nSebastián Cruz – voice\, guitar\, compositions \n\n\nAlejandro Flórez – guitar\, live electronics \n\n\nManu Koch – keyboards \n\n\nMichael W. Davis – drums \n\n\nAbout Sebastián Cruz Quartet: \nNew Colombian songwriting inspired by ancient grooves\, featuring electric improvisation. \nThe Sebastián Cruz Quartet is the culmination of bandleader Sebastián Cruz’s lifelong search for an organic convergence of his eclectic passions: Colombian tradition\, electric texture\, improvisation\, and songwriting. After two albums built around a rotating cast of guest vocalists\, this new phase marks Cruz’s arrival as a singer in his own right. Their debut single\, the three-song El Prisma (2023)\, captures the Quartet’s raw\, urban\, and virtuosic sound\, one critic called it among the most interesting sets at the festival where they premiered it. \nAbout Sebastián Cruz: \nSebastián Cruz is a Colombian singer-songwriter and guitarist\, a leading voice in the new Colombian music movement since settling in New York in 1997. His sound moves between tradition and experimentation\, marked by rhythmic ingenuity and lyrical depth. He draws from folkloric icons like Peregoyo and El Burro Mocho\, as well as modern masters like Bill Frisell and Marc Ribot. \nCruz got his start in Bogotá’s 1990s rock scene\, performing at major venues and the first editions of Rock al Parque\, Latin America’s largest free rock festival\, with bands El Zut and Los del Centro. In New York\, he has collaborated with Lucía Pulido\, La Cumbiamba eNeYé\, Los Aliens\, and his own groups Coba and The Cheap Landscape Trio. Today\, he leads the Sebastián Cruz Quartet\, his most personal project yet\, stepping forward as a vocalist for the first time.

SUMMARY:Pages In the Park: Bread is Love with Pooja Makhijani
DESCRIPTION:Join a mother and her adorable children for their weekly baking ritual in Pooja Makhijani’s touching story\, with warm\, tender art by Lavanya Naidu. Bread Is Love celebrates the act of baking and eating bread\, and sharing it with family. \nBread is many things. \nBread is simple. The dough can be made with just flour\, salt\, starter\, and water. \nBread is science. With the right ingredients\, in the right amounts\, the dough grows and changes. \nBread can be unpredictable. Sometimes it rises\, like a soft pillow. Sometimes it’s flat and crunchy. \nBut bread is always delicious\, especially when it is made with love.

SUMMARY:Festejation – Peruvian Night Celebration
DESCRIPTION:As part of Open Streets and Terraza 7’s 25th anniversary\, Festejation brings the Afro-Peruvian tradition to Gleane Street — New York artists from across the Americas\, led by Edward Pérez\, blending high art with an irresistible dance vibe. Free and open to all. \nFeaturing: \n\n\nMaria Raquel / Vocals \n\n\nEric Kurimski / Guitar \n\n\nJuan Felipe Mayorga / Drums \n\n\nDylan Blanchard / Congas \n\n\nFelipe Fournier / Bongó\, campana\, quijada \n\n\nEdward Pérez / Bass and arrangements. \n\n\nhttps://youtu.be/GThLhdudLy4 \n Where the sun-drenched dunes of a vast desert collide with the salty surf of the Pacific\, the Afro-Peruvian musical tradition was born. The churning of those waves can be heard in the percussion and the spice of the ceviche from those waters can be felt in the vocals of festejo\, the Afro-Peruvian music and dance style dedicated to celebration. In Festejation\, a crack crew of New York regulars hailing from countries up and down the American continent pay homage to this tradition\, each adding their accented voice and a dose of urban chic. Blending the talents of the group\, director Edward Pérez (co-director of the Grammy-nominated Terraza Big Band and Silkroad artist) crafts novel arrangements in which festejo is treated at once as high art and also as a comfortable-as-denim dance style that anyone can get rowdy to with a pisco sour in hand.
