Hey neighbor, Jackson Heights really said, “let’s keep things interesting” this week. First, a big thank you to Emily Moore for her support for this newsletter. She also gave a nod to Just Made 4 U on 37th Ave and 80th which is a bright, casual spot full of good options like smoothies, salads, crepes, and sandwiches that will not slow you down. You can join Emily in supporting the newsletter and receive additional perks while you’re at it by signing up here. Meanwhile, you may have also seen this mysterious plaque on 84th Street and 35th Ave:
Turns out it is a joke sign you can buy online. Still, it gave a few of us a good pause and a laugh! But the biggest story this week is about courage. Local pizzeria owner Louie Suljovic jumped in to stop a dangerous situation and protect the people inside his shop. Quick thinking, and a reminder that this neighborhood looks out for each other. And if you like a little beauty with your news, we caught a moody cloudy sky over Northern Boulevard and even spotted some custom Jackson Heights sneakers out in the wild.
Oh, and one more thing. Flushing Town Hall is giving away two free tickets to a global music night this Saturday. Dancing, live bands, and a mashup finale where anything can happen. First person to reply to this email wins them! Alright, time to make plans… Here is what else is happening around Jackson Heights this week.
